Bordeaux: 16-year-old girl dies after being hit by a tram
A tragic accident occurred overnight from Sunday to Monday, October 13, 2025, on quai Richelieu, near the Miroir d’Eau in central Bordeaux. Around 12:40 a.m., a 16-year-old girl was fatally struck by a tram on line C. Despite the quick arrival of emergency services, the teenager died at the scene.
Her friend, also 16 years old, who was with her at the time of the collision, was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The 24-year-old tram driver was also hospitalized, deeply shocked by the event.
Following the incident, tram line C service was temporarily suspended in both directions to allow emergency responders and police to work safely. Local authorities, including a medical emergency unit (SMUR) and the incident commander, were present at the scene.
The precise circumstances of the accident are still under investigation.
