BlackRock plans investment in Dollar bond issued by Indian infrastructure group

Global asset management giant BlackRock is preparing to invest in a dollar-denominated bond issued by a subsidiary of India’s Shapoorji Pallonji Group, according to financial market sources familiar with the transaction.

The planned investment could range between 100 million and 200 million U.S. dollars through a fund focused on Asian markets. Financial analysts believe the participation of one of the world’s largest investment firms could strengthen investor confidence in the offering and attract additional international buyers.

The bond issuance forms part of a broader fundraising strategy led by Goswami Infratech, a unit linked to the Indian conglomerate. The company is reportedly seeking several billion dollars through a combination of foreign currency bonds and domestic debt financing to support infrastructure and business operations.

The transaction is expected to take place through a private placement arranged by international banking institutions. Market observers note that Indian corporations are increasingly turning to global debt markets to diversify funding sources and secure long-term capital for expansion projects.

At the same time, rising hedging costs and currency market volatility have complicated financing conditions for companies borrowing in foreign currencies. These financial pressures have led several firms to adjust repayment schedules and reconsider fundraising timelines.

India remains one of the fastest-growing major economies in the world, attracting increasing attention from global investors seeking opportunities in infrastructure, construction, energy, and industrial development.
