Bentley enters the electric era with its first fully electric car

Bentley has officially entered the fully electric vehicle market with the launch of its new Turkal model, marking a major step in the luxury carmaker’s transition toward electric mobility.

Built at Bentley’s factory in Crewe, the United Kingdom, the new model starts at £173,000, equivalent to around $233,120, making it the most affordable vehicle currently offered by the luxury brand. The pricing strategy is also aimed at expanding Bentley’s customer base, including younger buyers and consumers who remain hesitant about switching to electric cars.

The Turkal is designed to combine electric performance with long-distance capability. According to Bentley, the vehicle can travel up to 375 miles, or approximately 600 kilometres, on a single charge.

Fast-charging technology is another key feature. Using a high-speed charger, the battery can reportedly be charged from 10% to 80% in around 20 minutes, reducing charging stops and making the vehicle more practical for everyday driving and longer journeys.

Inside, Bentley has retained its focus on luxury, combining traditional premium materials such as leather, wool and aluminium with the technology associated with electric vehicles. The approach reflects the brand’s effort to preserve its distinctive interior character while adapting to a rapidly changing automotive market.

Frank-Steffen Walliser, Bentley’s chairman and chief executive, said the new model brings together luxury and electric technology, reflecting the company’s strategy of developing electric vehicles while maintaining the characteristics that define its position in the premium automotive segment.

The Turkal arrives as luxury automakers accelerate their shift toward electrification, seeking to meet growing demand for lower-emission vehicles while maintaining the comfort, performance and craftsmanship expected from high-end models.
