Bank of America CEO expects 15% growth in Q2 trading revenue
Bank of America expects its trading revenue to increase by about 15% in the second quarter compared with the same period last year, according to CEO Brian Moynihan.
The projection reflects improved performance in global financial markets following a period of heightened volatility last year, when markets were affected by concerns over U.S. trade tariffs and broader economic uncertainty.
Speaking at a financial conference, Moynihan noted that year-over-year comparisons are influenced by unusually strong market fluctuations in the previous year, making current results appear more robust in relative terms.
Despite these comparisons, the bank’s leadership described investment banking activity as being in solid condition, supported by steady deal flow and improving market sentiment. Wealth management revenues are also expected to grow in the low double-digit range compared to the previous year.
The outlook suggests continued resilience in large U.S. financial institutions, which have benefited from higher trading activity and stabilizing economic conditions in global markets.
Analysts indicate that stronger trading performance typically reflects increased client activity in equities, fixed income, and currency markets, often driven by macroeconomic uncertainty and shifting monetary policy expectations.
Overall, Bank of America’s forecast highlights cautious optimism in the banking sector as firms navigate evolving market conditions while maintaining profitability across core business segments.
