Bangladesh signs defense deal with China to produce drones domestically
Bangladesh has signed a defense agreement with China Electronics Technology Group Corporation International (CETC) to build a drone manufacturing and assembly facility in the country, along with technology transfer, the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) announced.
The signing ceremony took place at BAF headquarters in Dhaka, attended by Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan and CETC officials. Under the agreement, the BAF and CETC will jointly establish a state-of-the-art facility for manufacturing and assembling Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
The drones will serve both military purposes and humanitarian operations, including disaster relief. The pact aims to achieve full self-reliance in domestic UAV production while promoting national technological development, specialized training, and the creation of a skilled aerospace workforce.
Initially, the facility will focus on Medium Altitude Low Endurance (MALE) UAVs and Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) UAVs. The partnership also includes capacity building, industrial skills development, and joint technical cooperation to ensure long-term self-sufficiency in UAV production.
