Bahrain urges residents to seek shelter after Manama blasts
Bahrain’s Interior Ministry issued an urgent public warning after explosions were reported in the capital, Manama, instructing citizens and residents to move to the nearest safe location as sirens echoed across the city.
In a brief statement, the ministry said the alert was triggered by a serious security threat. It did not immediately disclose details about the source of the danger. Authorities urged the public to remain calm, avoid gathering in open areas and keep major roads clear to allow emergency and civil defense vehicles to operate.
The warning came after reports of missile strikes targeting locations linked to the United States in Bahrain, including areas close to the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet. The reported attacks were described as part of a broader regional escalation involving Iran, the United States and Israel.
Witnesses in Manama reported hearing multiple blasts followed by air raid sirens. Shortly afterward, official messages circulated through government channels advising residents to take shelter indoors. Local media reported that the Interior Ministry was working with security agencies and civil defense units to assess potential damage and monitor any ongoing threats.
Officials said further updates would be released through official applications and media platforms as more information becomes available. They stressed that public safety remains the top priority while the situation develops.
Several foreign embassies, including the United States mission in Manama, advised their nationals to shelter in place, secure essential supplies and follow instructions from local authorities until the threat subsides.
