Apollo Hospitals proposes Kamineni as executive chair of Healthtech spin-off
India’s Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd has proposed the appointment of promoter director Shobana Kamineni as executive chairperson of its upcoming Healthtech spin-off, marking a key step in the group’s ongoing restructuring strategy.
The new entity, Apollo Healthtech, is expected to be separately listed as part of a broader plan to streamline operations and unlock value from the company’s digital health, pharmacy, and medical technology businesses.
According to the company, the proposed appointment remains subject to shareholder approval. The spin-off board is expected to include a majority of independent directors, reflecting governance standards typically required for publicly listed entities.
Apollo Hospitals has been gradually separating its business segments in recent years, aiming to create more focused entities capable of responding to specific market demands in healthcare services and medical technology. The Healthtech division is expected to play a central role in the group’s future growth strategy.
The company has indicated that the demerger and listing process is targeted for completion in the coming fiscal period, following necessary regulatory approvals. At the time of listing, Apollo Healthtech is expected to generate substantial annualized revenue, reflecting its position in the expanding digital health and medical equipment market.
Industry observers note that healthcare companies in India are increasingly turning to structural reorganizations and spin-offs to improve operational efficiency and attract specialized investor interest. The move also aligns with broader global trends in healthcare innovation and digital transformation.
If approved, the appointment of Kamineni and the spin-off listing would further strengthen Apollo’s strategic focus on high-growth healthcare segments while allowing greater autonomy for its technology-driven business units.
The development underscores the ongoing evolution of India’s healthcare sector, where large hospital networks are expanding into integrated technology and services platforms.
