Anthropic and Microsoft account for 85% of Nscale’s $103 billion contracts
British data centre developer Nscale is emerging as a major beneficiary of the global investment boom in artificial intelligence infrastructure, with Anthropic and Microsoft accounting for around 85% of the total value of contracts announced by the company, estimated at $103 billion.
The figures highlight the rapid expansion of Nscale’s business as technology companies race to secure the computing capacity required to train increasingly sophisticated AI models and operate growing numbers of AI-powered services.
According to Bloomberg, the value of Nscale’s announced contracts has increased roughly 1,000-fold over the past three years. The surge has been driven largely by growing infrastructure requirements from Anthropic and Microsoft as both companies expand their AI operations.
The development comes amid unprecedented investment in data centres and advanced computing infrastructure. Technology companies are seeking additional capacity to keep pace with the rapid adoption of generative AI and the increasing computational demands associated with developing and deploying advanced models.
Nscale is also preparing for a major corporate milestone. The company has formally filed for an initial public offering in New York, with the potential listing reportedly targeting a valuation of around $35 billion.
The company has not yet disclosed a definitive timetable for the offering or an indicative share price. The final terms remain subject to regulatory procedures and further decisions concerning the structure of the listing.
A US listing would place Nscale within a growing group of infrastructure companies attracting investor attention as demand for AI-related computing capacity accelerates. Data centre operators and providers of specialised computing infrastructure have become increasingly important to the expansion of the AI industry.
At the same time, the concentration of roughly 85% of Nscale’s announced contract value among just two customers highlights a significant level of customer dependence. The company’s future revenue growth could therefore remain closely tied to the investment plans and infrastructure spending of Anthropic and Microsoft.
That concentration also illustrates the structure of the rapidly expanding AI data centre market, where a relatively small number of major technology companies can generate a substantial share of demand for computing capacity.
Large contracts demonstrate the scale of the opportunity created by the AI boom for digital infrastructure providers, but they also underline the importance of broadening customer bases. Greater diversification could help infrastructure companies reduce their exposure to changes in spending plans or investment cycles among their largest clients.
Nscale is consequently entering a new phase combining rapid data centre expansion with preparations to access public markets. Its trajectory reflects the growing importance of the physical computing infrastructure supporting the global development of artificial intelligence.
