The Algerian influencer known as "Imad Tintin" is set to appear before the Grenoble Criminal Court this Wednesday, March 5. In early January, he and three other individuals—two Algerians and a French-Algerian woman—were arrested in France for publishing content deemed hateful toward the country and inciting acts of violence.

Imad Ould Brahim, the influencer’s real name, is 31 years old and stands accused of creating and translating video montages, including one that has since been removed, which reportedly called for acts such as "burning alive, killing, and assaulting on French soil." He was arrested on January 3 in Échirolles, a suburb of Grenoble, and initially charged with "direct incitement to commit an act of terrorism" in an immediate court appearance. However, he requested extra time to prepare his defense, prompting a postponement of the trial.

While awaiting his trial, Brahim was placed in provisional detention, with the court citing risks of witness tampering or potential flight abroad. Under an Obligation to Leave French Territory (OQTF), he faces a potential seven-year prison sentence. During his first court appearance, Brahim denied any terrorist intentions behind his actions.

Other individuals implicated in similar cases have also faced legal consequences. Youcef A., also known as "Zazou Youssef," was sentenced in late February in Brest to 18 months of imprisonment, along with a ten-year ban from entering French territory. He was prosecuted for using TikTok to incite attacks in France and promote violence in Algeria.

In Montpellier, Boualem Naman, a janitor who goes by "Doualemn" on TikTok, faced charges for a video in which he called for violence against a protester opposing Algeria’s government. Prosecutors requested a six-month suspended prison sentence in this case.

Meanwhile, Sofia Benlemmane, another influencer with hundreds of thousands of followers on TikTok, is scheduled to stand trial in Lyon on March 18. She faces charges related to an online livestream during which she reportedly hurled insults in Arabic at another woman.
