Akdital and T2S Group to deploy interconnected surgical robots across Morocco

T2S Group and Akdital are preparing to broaden the use of robotic-assisted surgery in Morocco through a framework agreement covering the deployment of several interconnected surgical robots across Akdital’s healthcare network.

The agreement brings together equipment supply, installation, biomedical maintenance and operational support. It also includes the training of medical and technical teams, laying the groundwork for a broader integration of robotic technologies into surgical practice.

A nationwide robotic surgery programme

Under the agreement, T2S Group will oversee the programme throughout its implementation, from the integration of robotic systems into operating theatres to their long-term maintenance.

The company has been developing its activities in robotic-assisted surgery since 2024, with an offering that extends beyond the supply of surgical platforms. Its role includes installation, staff training, technical support and the provision of the devices and instruments required for procedures.

Akdital’s surgeons, nurses, biomedical specialists and technical personnel will be involved in the deployment. Their participation is intended to facilitate the integration of the technology into everyday hospital procedures while maintaining coordination between medical, technical and biomedical teams.

Patient safety remains a central consideration as the new systems are introduced into clinical environments.

Training at Akdital Academy

Training is a key component of the programme. A dedicated robotic surgery training console is set to be installed at Akdital Academy in Casablanca, which was inaugurated in September 2026.

The facility will provide surgeons with an environment in which to develop familiarity with robotic-assisted surgical techniques, procedures and operating protocols before using the technology in routine clinical settings.

The training component is also expected to support the development of specialised skills within Akdital’s network as the number of robotic systems increases.

Remote surgery as a future application

The interconnected architecture planned under the agreement could eventually enable surgical procedures to be performed remotely. Such operations would involve a medical team physically present with the patient, while another surgical team could intervene from a different location through the connected robotic system.

This approach requires close clinical coordination as well as strict technical and safety procedures. The objective is to create the conditions for specialist surgical expertise to be mobilised across geographically separated healthcare facilities.

The initiative builds on an earlier milestone achieved by Akdital in May 2025, when a remote surgical intervention was carried out between two of the group’s facilities in Casablanca and Laâyoune.

With the new framework agreement, robotic surgery is set to move beyond isolated technological demonstrations toward a broader deployment model within Morocco’s private healthcare network.
