Aïd Al Mawlid Annabawi: King Mohammed VI grants clemency to 634 individuals
On the occasion of Aïd Al Mawlid Annabawi 1448 H, corresponding to 2026, His Majesty King Mohammed VI granted His Royal Clemency to 634 individuals sentenced by various courts in the Kingdom. The measure includes both incarcerated individuals and those on probation, according to a statement from the Ministry of Justice.
A clemency that concerns 619 sentenced individuals
The provisions announced for this religious celebration differentiate several categories of beneficiaries. Among the 619 individuals covered by the standard clemency measures, 462 are incarcerated, while 157 are on probation.
For incarcerated individuals, the clemency primarily takes the form of a sentence reduction. Thirteen inmates benefit from clemency regarding the remainder of their prison or detention sentence. For 449 other inmates, the prison or detention sentence is annulled.
The measures also concern 157 individuals on probation. Among them, 28 benefit from clemency regarding their prison sentence or its remainder. Thirteen others have their prison sentence pardoned while retaining their fine.
Clemency applies only to the fine for 112 beneficiaries, while four individuals benefit from both a remission of their prison sentence and their fine.
Fifteen beneficiaries in extremism and terrorism cases
The royal decision also includes a specific measure concerning 15 individuals sentenced in cases related to extremism and terrorism.
According to the Ministry of Justice, these beneficiaries received Royal Approval after officially expressing their attachment to the constants and sanctities of the Nation as well as to national institutions. They also revised their ideological orientations and rejected extremism and terrorism.
Among these 15 detainees, nine benefit from clemency on the remainder of their imprisonment, while six others benefit from a remission of their sentence.
A total of 634 beneficiaries
The overall measures announced thus concern 634 individuals: 619 beneficiaries under various categories of clemency, plus the 15 individuals sentenced in extremism and terrorism cases.
This clemency occurs within the framework of the measures traditionally announced on the occasion of Aïd Al Mawlid Annabawi, which marks the birth of the Prophet Mohammed.
