Africorp Consortium and UM6P partner to enhance Morocco's technological landscape
In a significant advancement for Morocco’s innovation ecosystem, Africorp Consortium, a prominent industrial and investment group led by Saad Berrada Sounni, has forged a strategic alliance with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). This partnership, formalized during the Deeptech Summit 2025, aims to foster joint research, facilitate digital transformation, and promote sustainable industrial development.
The collaboration will emphasize artificial intelligence, industrial optimization, and digital process automation, with plans to establish joint research laboratories and promote technology transfers. Additionally, the partnership will extend its reach into agriculture, developing high-value farming solutions, and into mining, focusing on sustainable extraction practices.
Education is a cornerstone of this initiative. Africorp and UM6P will create specialized training programs, bolster entrepreneurship, and integrate advanced learning technologies to cultivate Morocco’s future talent pool.
Another critical aspect of the partnership includes support for DeepTech startups that resonate with Africorp’s industrial requirements. The entities will encourage open innovation, motivating employees to devise novel solutions in industrial fintech, data management, and green technologies.
Jaafar Harti, CEO of Africorp Consortium, emphasized the partnership's broader implications. “This collaboration with UM6P underscores our dedication to placing Africorp at the forefront of technological innovation and sustainability, benefiting our industrial, agricultural, mining, and educational sectors,” he stated. “Together, we aim to tackle future challenges while delivering value for our nation and continent.”
The agreement was signed by Abdellatif Souhail, CEO of Africorp’s Industry Division, and Yassine Laghzioui, CEO of UM6P Ventures, marking a pivotal moment in Morocco’s pursuit of a knowledge-based economy. This partnership comes at a time when Morocco is steadily establishing itself as a regional leader in technology and innovation.
By bridging the gap between academia and industry, this initiative aspires to accelerate job creation, skills development, and the emergence of homegrown technological solutions, all of which are essential for long-term economic resilience.
