5.7 magnitude earthquake shakes Afghanistan
A 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region on Friday, according to the German Research Center for Geosciences. The tremor occurred at a depth of 79 kilometers (49 miles) at 5:39 pm local time (1:39 GMT).
Residents reported feeling the quake in Kabul and several surrounding provinces. Despite the strength of the seismic activity, authorities have not yet confirmed any damage or casualties.
Seismologists continue to monitor the region for possible aftershocks, urging communities in vulnerable areas to stay alert and follow safety guidelines.
