$1.7 million in jewelry stolen in one minute: U.S. authorities release shocking California heist footage
a highly organized group of thieves carried out a rapid heist at a jewelry store in Fremont, California, making off with nearly $1.7 million worth of jewelry in just 70 seconds. Authorities have now released surveillance footage capturing the audacious robbery.
The video shows a large number of masked individuals dressed in black and wearing gloves entering "Kumar Jewelers." Armed with hammers and other tools, they smash display cases and stuff the stolen items into bags with remarkable speed. According to CNN, approximately 80% of the store's inventory was taken.
Prior to the break-in, the footage shows the thieves ramming the store's entrance with a stolen vehicle. Employees were able to find safety during the attack. Law enforcement pursued one of the getaway vehicles, resulting in the arrest of four men in their twenties. However, most of the suspects remain at large, as reported by NDTV.
This daring and fast-paced robbery highlights ongoing challenges for law enforcement in preventing organized retail crimes, even in well-monitored locations.
