In Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Princess Lalla Hasnaa is representing King Mohammed VI at the World Climate Action Summit, a key component of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28). The summit commenced on Friday.

Princess Lalla Hasnaa was warmly received at Expo City Dubai by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

After engaging with representatives of participating nations and heads of state and government for a family photo, Princess Lalla Hasnaa entered the conference hall.

The Summit began with addresses from notable figures, including the United Nations Secretary-General, the President of the United Arab Emirates, and King Charles III of the United Kingdom.

With the global community facing an escalating climate crisis, around 160 heads of state and government, along with representatives of state parties, are set to deliver national statements outlining their countries' strategies for addressing climate change and expanding their commitments to reduce emissions.

COP28 serves as a crucial platform for the practical implementation of sustainable development initiatives and the advancement of climate objectives in the interest of current and future generations. Additionally, this event provides both states and non-state stakeholders with an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and combine efforts in the realm of climate action.

This Conference marks the culmination of the "Global Stocktake," which represents the initial evaluation of worldwide progress in the implementation of the 2015 Paris Agreement.
