Akhannouch announces he will not seek a third term as head of the RNI
Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch has announced that he will not run for a third term as president of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), signaling a forthcoming leadership transition within the party.
Speaking during a party meeting, Akhannouch stressed the importance of political renewal and internal democracy, stating that the RNI must continue to evolve by opening the door to new leadership. His decision paves the way for the emergence of a successor who will be tasked with guiding the party in the coming years.
Since taking the helm of the RNI, Akhannouch has overseen significant organizational reforms and led the party to a major electoral victory, culminating in his appointment as head of government. Under his leadership, the RNI positioned itself as a central player in Morocco’s political landscape.
Observers see his announcement as a strategic move aimed at ensuring continuity and stability within the party while reinforcing democratic practices. The upcoming selection of a new leader is expected to attract considerable attention, as it could shape the future direction of the RNI ahead of future electoral challenges.
