Weekend Performances of the Lions of the Atlas

This past weekend, several players from Morocco's national football team, the Lions of the Atlas, delivered standout performances across Europe’s top football leagues. From Ligue 1 to the Premier League, these players showcased their skills and contributed significantly to their teams' successes. Here are the ratings for their performances.

Ligue 1

- Achraf Hakimi: 8.5/10

Achraf Hakimi was instrumental in Paris Saint-Germain's 1-1 draw against Nantes, scoring the opening goal just two minutes into the match. He almost added another soon after with a strong run down the right flank. In addition to his goal, Hakimi provided two key passes and completed 115 out of 124 passes. Defensively, he was solid, with two interceptions, two successful tackles, and a clearance. Hakimi now has two goals and four assists in Ligue 1 this season.

- Sofiane Diop: 7.5/10

Sofiane Diop is gradually returning to form after a lengthy absence. The young midfielder from OGC Nice was the most dangerous player on the field in their 4-1 defeat to Lyon. He registered two shots on target, an 82% pass accuracy, and won three out of five duels. With three goals and two assists in 10 Ligue 1 appearances, Diop is making a positive impact.

- Nayef Aguerd: 6.5/10

Nayef Aguerd started strong in Real Sociedad’s 2-0 win over Betis before being forced off due to injury. The Moroccan defender has been a key figure since joining the Basque club in the summer, with fans even naming him Player of the Month for November. In just 45 minutes, Aguerd won four out of six duels and completed 34 out of 39 passes, including three out of four long balls. Details on his injury remain limited as of now.

- Brahim Diaz: 6/10

Brahim Diaz had the opportunity to start for Real Madrid in their 2-0 victory over Getafe, but failed to make a significant impact. Despite providing three key passes, Diaz missed a golden opportunity when he was one-on-one with the goalkeeper. He played the full 90 minutes but was unable to shine in this outing.

Premier League

- Noussair Mazraoui: 6/10

After a series of strong performances for Manchester United, Noussair Mazraoui had a quieter match in their 4-0 victory against Everton. He played for just 56 minutes and recorded an 87% pass accuracy, winning two out of two aerial duels and two out of six ground duels. Mazraoui also made one interception and one tackle but struggled to replicate the form that has earned him praise in recent weeks.

- Ismail Saibari: 9/10

Ismail Saibari was exceptional in PSV Eindhoven’s 5-2 win over Utrecht. The Moroccan midfielder scored twice and provided an assist, demonstrating his technical ability and vision. After 10 matches in the Dutch league, Saibari has accumulated three goals and five assists, firmly establishing himself as a key player for PSV.

These players have shown their value to their clubs and continue to represent Morocco with pride on the international stage. Their performances highlight the growing influence of Moroccan footballers in European leagues.
