Trump Appoints Thomas Homan to Lead U.S. Border and Immigration Agency

President-elect Donald Trump has announced the appointment of Thomas Homan to head the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a role Homan previously held during Trump’s first term in office.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump expressed his satisfaction with the decision, stating, “I am pleased to announce that former ICE Director and a key figure in border enforcement, Tom Homan, will join the Trump administration to oversee our nation’s borders.”

Trump also emphasized that Homan would be responsible for overseeing the deportation of illegal immigrants back to their home countries.

Trump made combating illegal immigration a central focus of his presidential campaign, vowing to deport all individuals residing unlawfully in the United States.

In an interview with CBS last October, Homan reaffirmed his hardline stance, stating that, if elected, authorities would resume large-scale raids on job sites to arrest and deport unauthorized workers.

As the new "border czar," Homan, a staunch supporter of Trump's "zero tolerance" immigration policy, promised to lead what he described as “the largest deportation force this country has ever seen.”

However, in a separate Fox News interview, Homan assured that deportations would be carried out in a “humane” manner.

In addition to this appointment, Trump recently named Susie Wiles, his campaign director, as the new White House Chief of Staff. Over the weekend, Trump also clarified that he would not invite Nikki Haley, his former UN ambassador, or Mike Pompeo, the former Secretary of State, to join his new administration when it takes office in January.
