Rising death toll in Gaza as Israeli strikes intensify
The health ministry in Gaza, governed by Hamas, reported a staggering increase in casualties due to the ongoing conflict with Israel. In a grim update released on Wednesday, the ministry confirmed an additional 970 deaths within a mere 48-hour period, following a surge in Israeli airstrikes across the territory.
As of midday Wednesday, the total number of fatalities resulting from the conflict has reached 49,547, a sharp rise from the 48,577 reported just two days earlier. This latest wave of strikes is noted as the most lethal since a fragile ceasefire was established in January, marking a significant escalation in hostilities.
The situation in Gaza remains dire as both the humanitarian crisis and the death toll continue to mount.
