CAF Lauds Morocco's Ultra-Modern Facilities Ahead of 2025 AFCON

As the countdown to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) draws near, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has praised Morocco's ultra-modern facilities and robust infrastructure, ensuring an unforgettable experience for spectators and participants alike. Excitement is building not only for the tournament itself but also for Morocco's return to the forefront of the AFCON stage. The football fraternity eagerly awaits the upcoming draw for the qualifying matches.

On the eve of the anticipated draw ceremony, scheduled for Thursday at 1:30 PM, CAF expressed unwavering confidence in Morocco's hosting capabilities and its rich experience in organizing major sporting events. The continental governing body acknowledged that "for the second time in its history, Morocco will host the CAF TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations. With 17 months until the competition kicks off, the Kingdom is gearing up for the draw for the qualifying matches."

Reflecting on Morocco's history as a host nation, CAF recalled the country's successful organization of the 1988 AFCON, marking its debut as a host of the prestigious tournament. Since then, the competition has evolved into the most significant football event on the African continent. While the 1988 edition featured only eight teams, the 2025 edition will see 24 nations vying for the coveted title, with a shared ambition to succeed the reigning champions, Côte d'Ivoire.

CAF further commended Morocco's prowess as a premier destination for international sports events, citing its successful hosting of the 2018 CAF TotalEnergies African Nations Championship, the 2022 CAF Women's Africa Cup of Nations, and the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup. This commitment to sporting excellence resonates throughout the Kingdom, with the cities of Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, and Tangier poised to host the 2025 AFCON matches.

According to CAF, "Spectators will enjoy ultra-modern facilities complemented by Morocco's robust infrastructure." The organization lauded the country's dedication to sports, which has undoubtedly contributed to its reputation as a prime destination for global events.

Beyond the imminent tournament, CAF highlighted the significance of Morocco's hosting of the 2025 AFCON, recognizing it as a platform for the nation to assert its status as a footballing powerhouse, both on and off the field. Morocco's joint bid with Spain and Portugal to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup further underscores the country's ambitions on the global stage.

As excitement mounts for the tournament itself, CAF emphasized the broader implications of Morocco's return to the AFCON spotlight, stating, "The excitement is building not only for the tournament itself but also for what it represents: Morocco's return to the forefront of the AFCON."

The draw for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on July 4, 2024. Forty-eight nations will be divided into 12 groups, including Morocco, which will participate despite its automatic qualification as the host nation.

With Morocco's proven track record and state-of-the-art facilities, the 2025 AFCON promises to be a spectacle of sporting excellence, showcasing the best of African football while providing an unforgettable experience for players, officials, and spectators alike.
